It seems strange to me that folding works in edit mode and doesn’t work in preview mode.

+1@silver @licat the folding/collapsible sections/TOC view requests are part of the same workflows and seem to be a popular request (see collapsible section below for links to forum threads).
while waiting for the plugin/feature release, support for markdown <details><summary> would alternatively be a huge help, ie :
unfold to see forum requests for outlining features

Most of this request is implemented. What is still missing is having customizable shortcuts for indenting and unindenting.
EDIT2: It would be nice if tab/shift tab could be used for these shortcuts.
Reorganizing lots of content in an efficient way is super important to me.
One feature I really like from VSCode is the outliner. It allows me to quickly jump to any header in a markdown document. Is there any chance we can get a note outliner for Obsidian?
This looks good. However, I am currently not using Obsidian full time so cannot give any feedback on how this actually works out. I am sure there are others who want this feature. Maybe they can give the feedback.
Obsidian is, no doubt, a very powerful and highly customizable note-taking app, and a perfect Roam alternative. The only thing I feel is missing is the ability to make bulletpoints default in editing mode, and the ability to zoom in on them, just like in Workflowy or Roam. I would love to see a side panel option that displayed my (currently being edited) document in a outline view, like DevonThink can, or Drafts, or MultiMarkdown Composer. I end up making a note with a few different sections, and often want to hop between those sections rather than make 6 separate notes. Having the note outline visible would be really helpful.

In regards to the ability to expand or collapse an indented paragraph, the following would be immensely helpful for students using active recall:
The note preserves whether a bullet point has been expanded or collapsed, ie if I expand half of a list, leave, and come back to the page later, that same half is still expanded, and the other half is still collapsed. Maybe possible through metadata?

I think it would also be very useful if the note could retain its current fold status.
I make heavy use of the outlining capability within notes.
As I flesh out an outline, I collapse (fold) sections, to keep just the level of detail I want to be looking at visible.
What’s not working so well with this and needs improvement is, when I navigate away from this note and then return to it, the folded-state that I left it in is gone, and the outline is always completely expanded at every level.

When I collapse/fold a heading in a particular note, and I navigate off of that note and then navigate back to that note, it should remember if I collapsed/folded the heading. I don’t know if this should be the behavior when you close and reopen the note, but I do think this should be the behavior for navigation.

Collapse a heading
Navigate off the note
Navigate back to that note

Right now, it’s only possible to collapse lists / headings in Edit mode. This seems like something that should be possible also in the Preview mode.
Also, this ties in to the other request here about “remembering collapsed status.” If it gets implemented in Preview mode, there might be a neat way to remember collapsed status between Preview/Edit modes. Yes, much needed to navigate in a large document. A hotkey to fold all the headings at once will be a bonus.

The folding in WriteMonkey is wonderful (can fold any selection). I’ve always wanted wysiwyg as a feature, but I love WriteMonkey despite it barely having preview. Though that’s not just about the folding.
