Add a file explorer toggle hotkey

Use case or problem

Being able to close the File explorer with a hotkey

Proposed solution

Currently there is only a hotkey for “Show file explorer”. I propose this to be changed to “Toggle file explorer”, so it can be opened or closed depending on the current state. In my opinion the most complete solution would be to have the three settings (in case someone wants a different hotkey for opening and closing):

  • Show File Explorer
  • Hide File Explorer
  • Toggle File Explorer

The toggle file explorer is key for users like me that use VScode every day (Ctrl+B in VScode to show/hide the side panel).

Current workaround (optional)

Closing it manually with the mouse cursor and open it with the current hotkey available for showing it.

I think the Toggle Left Sidebar command is what you need.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I searched for the wrong command and mistook File Explorer with the concept of sidebar.

Thank you
