Additional information

Maybe related to how this bug was fixed.

I am a little torn on this. It’s not a mobile specific problem because it behaves the same way on desktop. I am not sure why you mark these bugs as mobile-specific bugs.

What you are implying is that for pinned tabs, when always focus on new tab is off, simple tap should act like “open in new tab (in the background)”. I’ll talk with the other members of the team about this.

I spoke with the rest of the team. They think that a single click/tap on a link should always assume that you want to activate that page. So the new tab should be made active.

You are gonna have to open a Feature Request for this. Sorry!

Whaaa-- Even with “always focus new tabs” off? That makes opening multiple links in my DataView tables/lists such a struggle…

By the way, this behavior also makes it borderline impossible[1] to open multiple backlinks in a new tab on mobile.

  1. Pin tab, open backlinks, scroll to the backlink you want to open, tap, open tab switcher, go back to the pinned tab, open backlinks, scroll to the next backlink you want to open… ↩︎

yes, the FR you pointed to should be done, it’s already marked as valuable. Seems almost a bug. I am gonna move it here.
