We are aware that Obsidian Online account access and Sync is down. We are working on it.
We apologize for the inconvenience!
UPDATE: 2024-08-24 8:10 AM EST
There was a problem with the account/credential server with our hosting provider. The server is back online now. Sync and all the other services should start working again. We will investigate with our hosting provider what happened.
POST-MORTEM: 2024-08-24 9:00 AM EST
Our main server was taken down by a forced reboot at 2024-08-24 3AM EST / 12AM PST. When the account server was down, our services like Sync, Publish, and account functions like login or sign up were disrupted.
Normally our services would have immediately auto-restarted, however we made a mistake in the auto-restart configuration, which meant that it did not automatically restart. I was able to start it up again manually at 8AM EST. Everything is back to normal now.
I have since located the configuration issue and fixed it so if this happens again it would be down for at most a few seconds. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Also getting the issue. On Android Iâve cleared cache, tried a logout but now canât log back in and also deactivated any firewalls but issue persists
I assume the Obsidian team operates out of North America, according to their bios. I can understand that an outage in the middle of the night and on a weekend for a small team like that is somewhat tough to handle.
That said, I do hope that they are slowly getting their workstations fired up as they are probably getting boarded by alerts right now while in their PJs⌠Looking forward to some updates as we move into more ânaturalâ work hours for the Americas!
But when you charge $4 for 1GB storage (Obsidian Sync) which is more than what Google asks for 200GB (https://one.google.com/about/plans â GBP2.49 works out to be $3,29), so you basically ask for $800 for the same amountâŚthat is hardly reasonable. And yet, I am pretty sure if Google Drive goes offline I do not have to troll around forums for an update in 3h
(And before you ask âso why not use Google Drive for sync then?â- because with Linux and Windows I can possibly slap the Obsidian folder in it and call it a day, but sadly as far as I know iPhone does not support this - unsure about Android)
