Return focus to currently note

When ESC is pressed in “Command pallete” window, the focus is lost. It would be a better experience if it redirected the focus to the currently opened note.

Let me reuse the request formulated in the title:
When ESC is pressed in search (whether global or local in current file) the focus is lost. It would be a better experience if it redirected the focus to the currently opened note. Either to matched string or to last caret position if no match exists.

Return from palette already works, at least for me in Obsidian v0.9.22.

Edit: reposted in FR: hit Esc to return from 'Search in files' tab back to previously active tab

I think it’s better if you open a new request specific for that (If one is not already open)

Just ran into this and searched the forum before creating my own request.

Current Behavior

  1. Press ⌘F
  2. Press Escape (no query made)
  3. Obsidian loses the cursor position and tab focus
  4. Required to use mouse to re-select position

Desired Behavior

  1. Press ⌘F
  2. Press Escape (no query made)
  3. Cursor position and focus is retained

Thanks!

@keith.adams As WhiteNoise suggested, there is dedicated request for this. FR: hit Esc to return from 'Search in files' tab back to previously active tab
