Quickly jump to any vault from the Windows taskbar

Use case or problem

For people who have more than one vault, it’s often a multi-step process to get to the desired vault on Windows I have to:

1. Open Obsidian
2. Switch to the desired vault
3. Close the irrelevant vault

Proposed solution

VS Code has a feature where when you right click on the taskbar icon, it shows you a list of your recent project folders. I think it would be really great if Obsidian had this too, where right clicking on the taskbar icon shows a list of vaults. That way, you can select exactly which vault to go to when you open Obsidian.

Current workaround (optional)

There’s no workaround right now that I know of.

Windows Taskbar Recent List of Vaults

I like that Typora and many other document-oriented apps show a list of recent files on windows when you right-click the icon in the taskbar. That makes it really easy to browse and open projects without having to open the app and use its main interface to find the project and open it. Here’s an example. Use case or problem when I write in multiple vaults , i must open ‘a’ vault and switch to ‘b’ vault if i want to write in ‘b’ vault. Proposed solution It would be great to have recent vaults option . For example , like vscode or idea . [image]

Please add recent Vaults into taskbar menu as it works in some IDE’s (VSCode as example). Main idea that each vault is different project and I want quick run vault right from pinned icon [image]

Windows: Pinning vaults to Taskbar

I have a good idea for Windows. I have several vaults and occasionally open them all regularly, but I want to avoid merging them because they are area different. How about opening them directly by right-clicking (for right-handed people) in the taskbar, like Firefox does? Ability to pin vaults to taskbar similarily to Chrome profiles

Use case or problem Currently, Obsidian’s behavior wrt multiple vaults is somewhat inconsistent. If you have it pinned to the taskbar, when you boot it, it opens the vault that was last open let’s say Vault 1. If you now open a second one, it opens in a new taskbar icon. This is fine, but the behavior is inconsistent: If you close Vault 1 and open it again, Vault 1 doesn’t open in the pinned Obsidian icon, but as a second window of the temporary icon Vault 2’s window lives in.
