Ordered list format

In Obsidian ordered lists seem to follow the format…

  1. this
    1. sub thing
  2. that
    1. sub
    2. sub
      1. sub sub

Is this configurable somehow? Or perhaps it’s a markdown thing… that’s just how ordered lists are always done in markdown?

I don’t like the numbering format and would prefer something like…

  1. this
    a. sub thing
  2. that
    a. sub
    b. sub
    i. sub sub
    ii. sub more sub

I’ve played around with a few versions for fun, but they seem to break after n level deep or I hit some weird edge case.
