On a fresh install on a MacBook Air M1 after enabling sync and choosing a remote vault Obsidian fails to sync. Console: WebSocket connection to 'wss://sync-11.obsidian.md/' failed.
All other network connections work fine, but WebSocket connections appear to fail consistently. Every other device works.
(Obsidian version 1.6.7, most recent MacOS, no network proxy, no VPN, firewall disabled)
Does it work from you phone with data?
Does it work if you connect drom another network?

Yes, that’s what I meant with “every other device works” (two iOS devices, one MacOS device).
Switching networks did not help.
I’ve also tried both to sync from scratch and after transferring the vault over from my iPad.
The Macbook is configured with out-of-the box defaults with respect to all networking. Nothing installed there that might intercept, neither.
where did you write that all other devices work?
Anyway, if it works on other devices and not that one. It must be something limiting networking on that device. Either on the device itself or the router it is attached to.

Can’t be the router: other devices on the same network are syncing fine.
Ok I must be blind.
Kindly on the mac that doesn’t work, provide the debugging info
Command “Show Debug Info”.

(I already tried with community plugins off, as well – same issue)
You can try with restricted mode on and restart Obsidian.
However, I still think it’s your mac that is configured to block websockets from Obsidian.

Already did so.
Given that the Mac has a totally vanilla configuration I have absolutely no clue why it should block websockets from Obsidian. Suspected the firewall but that’s disabled.
is this home or is this a business computer?

Solved. For whatever reason there had been a https proxy configured. (My partner’s machine – I never had set this up and she never touches system settings. Weird.)
Thanks for your time!
