Numbered list change in 1.8.4

Hey, I’m losing my mind over the new automatic numbered list update on 1.8.4. I’m taking notes for my class and all my numbered list has been changed from “1. to X.” instead of being in the order I manually typed them to be in.

Is there any way to change this “improvement”?

same, is there a way to disable this feature, is it changing no just the current list but all subsequent lists in the file

It’s unfortunate indeed, given that numbered lists should be limited to a block.
I reckon there’ll be a 1.8.5 and possibly even more updates soon…

In the meantime I need to remind myself to steer clear of long notes where any of these numbered lists are featured.

I have used a deordinalizer in the past (it puts the \ escape char before . and ) when these come after a number) but I’d rather not put it here as you would need to run it outside of Obsidian and you’d need to undo these changes when the updates come out.

It’s a shame really. I use obsidian for note taking in med school and there is alot of steps that I order numerically. Given the circumstance alot of files have been rearranged.

This is going to be fixed in the next version, 1.8.5

The new update for numbered list is poor. I have to press ‘Tab’ and ‘Shift + Tab’ at the fist list item in every topic to get it corrected automatically.
Restarting numbered list after all Heading levels is needed.

Unless you type in the file, it won’t edit your list. So hopefully, you won’t have to fix that much. After this incident, I think I’m going to purchase Insider license so I can be come a semi-QA ;)) This is the first time that I see a feature update can cause so many issues. I wonder why while it’s released to Insider, nobody reported on it.

Right now, there is a big bug that will be solved in 1.8.5 and also a couple of FRs that you may be interested in:

Here’s example of what I mean. I like to space my numbered list instead of just pressing enter just once. Due to this, the list automatically changes numbers if I edit a numbered list written down above the one in the image. Will this be fixed in the update?

I apologize, I’m not really sure what the linked text you provided really mean (I’m not good at understanding some words frequently used for this program). Thanks!
