Mobile: Split tabs option not showing up. How to fix?

What I’m trying to do

The option to have 2 or more split screen tabs opened at once on mobile is no longer on my command prompt. I may have touched something on obsidian when half asleep this morning. But I’ve tried messing with the settings and I haven’t found it yet. Does anyone know how to re-enable this?

For clarification, I’m not talking about how many open tabs I have as shown in the right bottom corner but the ability to have multiple tabs open as split tabs simultaneously on the screen.

Didn’t try that but long-pressing on sidebar tab group items (Backlinks, Properties, etc.) and selecting was impossible as the pop-up menu disappeared on releasing from long-press. (iOS 1.5.8.)

It may be the update. Have an idea how to get to split tab view now?

No. It’s different. It’s a bug that went through the catalyst people.

I’m afraid if you cannot downgrade your version (on a JB device), you need to wait for a fix.

I’m hoping for all small-deviced people a fix comes fast as there’s not enough screen real estate even on an iPad mini and the Hover Editor is useful.

I did not thoroughly test the 1.5.8 version though. Saw the issue (on my own rather skimpy theme, didn’t try the default theme, I don’t care much for the default theme), replicated the error 3-4 times and reverted the update.

On Android Mobile the settings split right & split down …

… have now disappeared from my Android phone.

… are still there on my Android Tablet and Chromebook.

[… so screen size rather than mobile per se seems to be the deciding factor of this change]

However I can make them reappear on my Android phone by making Android “think” that I have a tablet …

For this you need to have enabled developer options.
(… Tap “About Phone/Build number” seven times.)

In developer options scroll down to Smallest width

e.g. on my Android phone I have

Smallest width:
411 dp

On Android the pivot figure is 600 dp.
… anything below Android thinks you have a phone.
… anything above Android thinks you have a tablet.

So I set it to 610 dp (from 411 dp)

Now when I reload Obsidian(no need to reboot the phone) …

… it has a tablet layout with tabs on top and …

ctrl+p split right
ctrl+p split down
& the menu items

… are back.

This developer setting needs to be set each time you reboot the phone …
i.e. you can try it and you’ll be back to normal after a reboot.

CARE: this setting affects everything on your phone … e.g. your Android browser will also have a tablet layout.

PS:
… you can alternate between the two layouts by changing the dp in developer options and reloading Obsidian without needing to reboot.
… I’ve used the opposite on my small 8.4" Android tablet in the past when I wanted my browser to have a phone interface by setting the dp below 600 at 590.
