Choose page structure - PDF export

Hello everyone,

I’ve searched both the documentation and online but couldn’t find a solution to my issue.

For my work, I frequently export notes to PDF. I’ve tried several plugins, but none of them allow me to control the page layout.

Specifically, sometimes I end up with an H1 or H2 heading positioned at the very bottom of a page (for example, page 1), whereas I would prefer it to start at the very top of the next page (page 2).

Does anyone know of a way to achieve this?

You can add <div style="break-after: page;"></div> for page breaks anywhere. There are also css options for breaking before/after any h1, h2, etc., heading. This is a great addition to our export options. Thanks!

Page break is corrupted when export to pdf

You can add <div style="page-break-after: always; visibility: hidden"> \pagebreak </div> anywhere in your note to force a page break. There are also CSS export options you can write, e.g., “Page break before every level 1 and level 2 heading”, etc. @media print { h1, h2 { page-break-before: always; } }

CSS for PDF export works well... but header formatting does not cooperate

PDF export is kind of a black box because we can’t preview the output with the applied CSS to see if it’ll work or not. So… as much as it’s frowned upon, !important to the rescue unless you want to spend hours exporting over and over again to see what works or what doesn’t. I rearranged a few things and added the excessive size + orange to make sure it was working, but this seems to work exporting from the default theme. You can add more individual h2~h6 rules if you need them. I’m not sure abo…

Hey @JLDiaz and @ariehen.

I’ll try this out. The only issue I see is that sometimes there can be two H1 tags on the same page, and with this technique, it won’t work.

Well, my technique consisted of you explicitly marking where you want page breaks by writing three dashes in the markdown (which are previewed as a solid line but converted to invisible page breaks in the PDF).
