Ever since the big update from v1.6.x, the drag and drop heading in the Outline Panel doesn’t work most of the time. It will work one or two times when you restart Obsidian. There are other time it stop working all together until I reset my phone. It’s a random behavior.
On Pixel 8 Pro phone running Android 15, I tried all the webview version 130.xx, 131.xx, 132.xx and 133.xx. All have the similar issue.

I need to factory reset my phone to do some testing. So I decided to another ROM that is vanilla, meaning doesn’t include the basic Google Core Components and Google Apps package. Therefore, it uses the AOSP webview as the default and not the Google webview. For two straight days, Obsidian’s drag and drop of moving headings in the Outline panel works 100%. I didn’t experience suddenly stop working.
I also reinstall crDroid with Google Apps package installed and then I start to experience the same issue as reported here.
I don’t know what is the difference between AOSP vs Google webview. Maybe you might be able to find a clue to solving this issue.
This bug persists for me. I’ve been searching the forum and have found several reports that seem to describe the same issue. A lot of them mention an issue with Webview. I’ve been trying the Canary builds on release with no success. The relevant topics I’ve found are these:
Just checking in as this bug persists for me on Android version 1.8.10 (on a Pixel 8 Pro updated to Android 16) across all versions of Webview (stable, beta, dev and canary).
I’ve hyperlinked the topics seemingly related in my previous post.
Any thoughts on a solution? I hadn’t realized how reliant I am on rearranging headings, but this also applies to bookmarks, files, etc.
Rearranging headings was my most used function from the moment I started using Obsidian. Last year, I was pretty frustrated when it stopped working. It only started functioning again after version 1.8.10, and even then, it was inconsistent. That’s why I started using GitHub - guopenghui/obsidian-quiet-outline. I really recommend the plugin, and if it were up to me, it’d be a core plugin.
Additionally, I avoid using bookmarks for the same reason and because I think there’s no easy way to sync them without Obsidian Sync.
Did you try the above steps in the sandbox vault (or just any vault started in restricted mode, no snippets and default theme)?
Yes
Expected result
The file is “picked up” visually and can be easily dragged around and moved between folders.
Actual result
The file stays still no matter where the cursor is dragged to, with the only visual indicator being a highlighted colour, before giving haptic feedback and opening the context menu on release.

Seems to work on some devices but not others. On a Samsung SM-T970 running Android 13 using the same vaults, the feature works perfectly. A user on Reddit with this issue describes a similar experience.
Update, as I don’t know how to edit reports: This has started to affect the SM-T970 too… same problem, replicable in a blank vault, no changes to the device I’m aware of.
Another update: I just noticed that it seems to still work a few seconds after closing/re launching the app. I am able to move a few files in that time before it becomes bugged again and stops working…
Bug Report: Drag-and-Drop Not Working on Samsung Galaxy Fold (Obsidian)
On Samsung Galaxy Fold devices, file and folder relocation via drag-and-drop in Obsidian does not work. I have tested both touch input and a Bluetooth mouse, and in both cases, drag-and-drop fails to move files or folders within the app.
I have tried the following troubleshooting steps:
Disabled all community plugins
Logged out of my Obsidian account
Created new vaults
Reinstalled Obsidian
Cleared cache and app data
Rebooted the device multiple times
Despite trying every method I could think of over the past few weeks, the issue persists. I recently confirmed that drag-and-drop works normally on an older Galaxy Note device with latest obsidian, so I suspect the issue is specific to Galaxy Fold models.
Please investigate this compatibility issue.
