Hi. In the workspaces core plugin, I wish there was a way to re-arragne the list of saved workspaces after I created them. I don’t see any such option at the moment.
thx!

This would indeed be nice! It would also be nice to be able to rename the workspaces. (The “manage workspaces” box could benefit from some usability love/refreshment in general.)
you can rename with the workspaces plus plugin but it doesn’t work on mobile, unfortunately…
+1 for this. It’s annoying not be able to change the order of my saved workspaces. To make matters worse, they don’t even sort alphabetically, so you can’t hack the order by prepending 00, 01, etc. to the names as you can in a file manager. So I’m stuck with a seldom used workspace sitting at the top, while my most-used one is buried in the middle of the list.
As a workaround, I wonder if the order could be changed by editing the workspaces.json file (in the vault’s hidden .obsidian folder) and then reloading Obsidian.
I tried that, but there are a lot of lines of code for each entry. I must have screwed something up when I tried to move the first workspace to a different location, which completely broke all of my workspaces; the list was blank when I loaded it. Fortunately I had backed up the file ahead of time and was able to restore it.
I would likely work for someone who knows the ins and outs of json, though.
The only other hack/workaround I’ve found is to open a workspace that’s currently at or near the top of the list, go to “Manage workspace layouts,” and save it with a slightly different name. It will then appear at the bottom of the list, marked as the current workspace. Then I can delete the copy of the workspace with the old name, removing it from the front of the list.
It’s clunky and inadequate, especially if you have a lot of workspaces and/or add new ones frequently, and I hope there will be a way to reorder workspaces with drag-and-drop or up/down buttons in a future version of Obsidian.
+1 for this. It would be very useful.
+1 for this suggestions
