Using little snitch on MacOS I see that obsidian is connecting to:
- play google com
- googleapis com - jnn-pa googleapis com
- doubleclick net - googleads g doubleclick net
dots removed due to no links rule 
This is with plugins disabled, and no sync activity enabled, so why?
Maybe here at Network Connections (Network Traffic) you can find an answer. It has a lot of connected similar questions.
