View backlinks for a linked block

Use case or problem

When using a note as a glossary, I link the words to the individual bullet list/block in the glossary note. I feel being able to see where I have created links to that word/block would be useful.

Proposed solution

Make the unique block identifier (the ‘^unique_id’) interactable.
Clicking on it could show the back links using that id.

Current workaround (optional)

View all back links > search
But in case of words that get used in unrelated blocks, they show up in the results as well

Haven’t found any.

yes please!!

Look at this plugin, it does what you are looking for, also works for headings!

You can also customize the settings to remove the indicator for the rest if you prefer.

Don’t know how you came across this old post, but thank you!

I actually don’t need this functionality now, because my setup for maintaining a glossary has changed to use the Note Definitions plugin. I’ve stopped making use of links much nowadays too.

That said this was exactly what I was hoping for. That plugin’s name made me skip over it every time I saw it for some reason.

I was looking for the same thing and came across your post. I found the plugin via ChatGPT.

I agree that this is confusing naming and that I would have probably skipped it too if that was not suggested by the AI.

I’ve removed the “solution” mark so this can stay open as a general feature request.

I like reducing plugins if possible, so that’s good to hear.
Since a working temlate is available in the plugin, this seems doable.

+1 for block-level backlinks! This is exactly what I’ve been missing when working with notes. I wonder why it hasn’t been added yet.

Whenever I need to find backlinks for individual blocks, I have to manually search using the global Find feature with the block ID. It’s terrible.
