Unable to close Obsidian to install v 1.2.8

What I’m trying to do

I’m trying to install Obsidian version 1.2.8 for Windows 10 but I keep getting a message saying ‘Obsidian cannot be closed. Please close it manually and click Retry to continue.’
I have closed previous version of Obsidian and even uninstalled it and restarted my PC several times, but keep getting this message and not getting beyond it to reinstall Obsidian.

[Install] Cannot upgrade to new version "Obsidian cannot be closed"

Coming back to Obsidian after a few months, my last version was 0.13.23. A major upgrade required to download the new version manually, which I did. I haven’t been able to upgrade, as I keep getting an “Obsidian cannot be closed” error, despite closing, completely uninstalling, rebooting, CCleaner, nothing has worked. However, I’m still able to install from a 0.13.23 file I had. I do not have Sync [image]

New user, cannot install - "Obsidian is running" error

Hi, new user here, wanted to switch to Obsidian from Notion, but whenever I try to install Obsidian I get the following error: “Obsidian is running. Click OK to close it. If it doesn’t close, try closing it manually.” If I click OK I later get another error saying that “Obsidian cannot be closed. I had the same issue when updating to v 1.3.5. After trial and error, I solved it by right-clicking on the new installer file and selecting “Run as administrator”.
