Transclusion search shows binary content and corrupts file

Steps to reproduce

1. Type [[foo.pdf^
2. Wait for some time

Expected result

Nothing should happen.

Well, really, I would like to be able to link to a specific page in a multi-page PDF document. Maybe see page numbers, or just type them.

Actual result

I can see the binary content of the PDF.
PNGs work the same way.
Selecting a block in the PDF corrupts it, and it appears undo can’t fix the problem.
