I’ve noticed that with MagicUser theme enabled on mobile, when viewing a table in Preview mode that is too wide for the screen I can’t drag the table to see the rest of its contents.
Is this a setting I need to change or hasn’t been accounted for in the theme yet?
Thank you for letting me know. I’ll have to check that out. Is this a dataview table or a normal table (non-dataview table)? Does it work in landscape orientation? Does it work in reading mode?
If you try dragging (tap and hold → drag → slower speed) it might work. A quick opinion, I think the dragging gesture is being confused with the swipe gesture and trying to show the menu (mobile). When you try to drag the table does the sidebar menu appear?
If you could answer these questions, I can try to add a fix to this in the next update.
This is a major theme update, featuring numerous improvements for both mobile and desktop users.
Improved mobile layout (many adjustments → smartphones and tablets).
Mobile sidebar open folder area. View open folders and their contents for an enhanced file management experience (same feature as the desktop version of the theme).
Tablets: Tabs layout - 3 tabs styles: default (rounded), square and pill tabs (same as the desktop version of the theme).
Improved Style Settings Theme Options layout
Active menus and submenus will have different background color according to the indent guide to make it easier to use and navigate (mobile and desktop version).
Style Settings: Preset tables
Preset tables:
table1 (column-striped table)
table2
table3
table4 (with accent color)
table5 (with accent color)
table6 (with accent color)
Default table layout
Style Settings:
UI Settings → Tables → Preset tables
To achieve the desired table layout for specific notes, you can apply the above CSS classes (table1 to table6).
Properties → cssclasses → table1 to table6
Style Settings: Select table body text color (normal tables and dataview tables).
Style Settings: Disable table row hover option.
Tables inside callouts adjustments.
Properties input adjustments (Desktop and Mobile).
This theme is really based on user feedback. Every suggestion is important to me. I will do my best to improve it, making it even more useful for you and other users. I am here to ensure its consistency and direction. Remember, if you don’t like any of the changes, you can customize this theme extensively.
This happens with normal markdown tables - it may also happen with Dataview tables but I don’t use Dataview so I’m not sure.
It happens in portrait and landscape, in the Reading mode. I think I called this Preview before, my bad - I only use source and reading modes.
Your suggestion regarding the dragging unfortunately doesn’t work - you’re correct about the sidebar, trying to drag the table just opens the right-hand side bar.
Thanks for the suggestions. Minimal is an excellent theme, each theme has its own light. Choosing a theme is deeply personal, just like finding your perfect pen. It can be love at first sight, or you might need to experiment until you find the one that feels like home – the one you miss when it’s gone.
Great point about inverting PDF colors. Obsidian’s built-in PDF reader actually has that functionality already. Just follow these steps (check it out the image):
Thanks for the screenshots. This effect is not directly related to any theme, it is already pre-defined. The theme can control and enhance this default effect or implement its own version of this type of effect (dark mode → pdfs). I will try to add some effects to improve this type of visualization or implement a new version (it doesn’t matter if “Adapt to theme” is enabled). Stay tuned.
Just a note:
Text definitely looks better, but note that images don’t look better than the built-in effect, in my opinion.
Could you please tell me if this dragging issue with large tables also happens using the default Obsidian theme (on your phone). Using only CSS without JavaScript (programming language), the solutions to this type of problem are quite limited. I don’t like the result so far… I changed some elements of the horizontal scrollbar to make dragging the table easier, but you can still activate the right sidebar.
The best way to solve this is to use a programming language and control touch events.
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my work with this theme. Polishing it took many late nights, but the feedback from fellow users makes it all worthwhile.
The message I want to share is that love, in all its forms, is a powerful driving force. No matter how tired, sad, or discouraged you feel, it can help you find the strength to keep going.
I don’t want to change distraction-free mode. I like it the way it is. So I created a different mode called total concentration mode. It will hide almost everything except the sidebars.
Total concentration mode goes beyond distraction-free mode. It creates a state of flow unhindered by any visual interruptions. Focus solely on your writing or reading.
Toggle total concentration mode quickly using a shortcut or Command Palette.
Style Settings:
UI Settings → UI Advanced Settings → Total concentration mode
By toggling this mode, you will get back to the previous state. It does not alter the sidebars.
The window cannot be dragged like in distraction-free mode. I recommend using it full screen.
