Struggling with Obsidian Markdown? Need Help for Smooth Rich Text Copy-Paste

What I’m trying to do

I’m trying to copy content from Obsidian and paste it into applications like WordPress or Microsoft Word as rich text without the markdown syntax.

I want the copied content to maintain its formatting, similar to how Trello allows pasting as formatted text. Ideally, there would also be an option to view or edit the markdown as needed.

Things I have tried

I have searched forums, looked for add-ons, and asked AI. Current work round is to use Trello to convert it for me

I believe it is an important feature that should be included or challenge someone to make a plugin or workaround better than mine.

So here is the summarized issue again for those that like to read bullets.

Issue:

  • When I copy content from Obsidian, it pastes as markdown in other applications.
  • Applications like WordPress or Microsoft Word display the markdown syntax instead of the formatted text.

Desired Functionality:

  • Ability to copy and paste from Obsidian to other applications without Markdown
  • Similar to Trello, where:
    • Copied content pastes as formatted text.
    • There is an option to view or edit the markdown.

Goal:

  • Paste directly as rich text into applications without manual conversion.
  • Maintain the intended formatting.

Request:

  • Looking for solutions or plugins that allow for easy copy-paste of formatted text from Obsidian.

Common Search Terms to get this post attention:

  • “Obsidian copy paste rich text”
  • “Obsidian copy and paste without the markdown”
  • “Obsidian convert markdown to docx”
  • “Obsidian export notes formatted text”
  • “Obsidian WYSIWYG plugin”
  • “Obsidian copy markdown as plain text”

Perhaps the Copy as HTML community plugin might be useful?

It converts markdown into richtext. However, it does not seem to work for callout boxes.

This is other newer plugin: md2html by xero.

If you copy from Reading View you’ll get the rich text instead of Markdown. As mentioned in the second thread you linked, pasting into Word may still have 1 or more issues.

This won’t happen in apps that don’t support Markdown, and for apps that support Markdown you’ll want to copy the Markdown, not the rich text.

Did you find any workaround for this? I also have the same issue, I want to copy my notes in MS Word from Obsidian, but without those hashtags, asterisks and callout codes being visible, just as it is - as if directly exporting the whole file into MS word. Also, I paste images into Obsidian, is there any way I can get that in MS word while copying too?
