Spellchecker in two languages?

What I’m trying to do

I’m trying to spellcheck words in both Norwegian and English, but Obsidian will only spellcheck Norwegian words. My Mac language settings is set to both languages. I’m on an M1 iMac with macOS Sonoma.

Things I have tried

Changing languages, Obsidian settings, Mac system preferences

Can you provide a screenshot? I cannot reproduce when spelling in the os settings Keyboard→Text input→Edit is set to Automatic by Language and the sample text below is used. You migth need to restart Obsidian since spellchecking seems to be unstable/inconsistent.

Abbnormal scientist knows everything.

Unormala vitenskapsmann vet alt.

It’s very random. Some times it will show a red line and the correct suggestion. Other times it will show a red line without any suggestions, a red line with the wrong suggestion or no red line or suggestion when it’s very obvious that there is a spelling error.

From your sample text:

Red line, correct suggestion

Red line, correct suggestion

Red line, no suggestion. The grammatically correct word in the sentence should be “vitenskapsmenn” (e instead of a).

Red line, correct suggestion

No red line, no suggestion

Same word, red line, correct suggestion

Red line, no suggestion

I can go on and on. It’s totally random. But a lot of times it’s a red line and no suggestion.

@WhiteNoise Are you sure about this being duplicate of

since that concerns electron spellchecker while we here reported observations from mac system spellchecker. How are these two connected?
