When I click on a note or a folder and it gets removed from the folder and moved in the vault, how can I turn this off?
In particular I don’t know what causes this. Also Cmd Z doesn’t redo this action so I have to manually look for the file and use the function to move it back to the folder.

This really takes me out of my work so I would really appreciate help. Thank you

It sounds like the issue below. If so, it will be fixed in the next release.

I don’t think so. The name of the file or folder doesn’t get changed it just gets moved in the vault and then I can for instance take it from the recent files list and drag it back in the folder. Or I have to manually search it. Name isn’t changed.

The bug is that Obsidian is being oversensitive and reading your click as a click-and-drag. The original bug report is unclear because it’s focused on a side effect. The user’s files were ending up in a place where files with the same name existed, so the filenames got numbers added to them to distinguish. Your note names aren’t changing because they’re the only ones with their names.

okay, thanks for the explanation

Hey there, I’m asking whether this bug will be fixed soon. It happens so often that a click on a note moves it out of the folder in the next higher folder.

Have you updated to Obsidian Version 1.5.8, released yesterday?

I did so a short while ago to see if it had been updated, that’s why I asked. But yea I don’t get the notification of an update inside the vault nor do I get a page with the news once it’s updated on my main vault. But thanks for letting me know I couldn’t replicate the bug now so I guess it’s fixed. Appreciate it. Cheers
