Pasting Screenshots Directly into Obsidian from Mobile

Hi, I am having problems with the mobile app. I want to paste screenshots I take from the phone straight to obsidian, I am unable to do it.

Why:
I don’t want to attach them as attachments because I want to delete the screenshots. I thought I would be able to do it like that but when I deleted them from the phone I get: “Screenshot_20240529_180856_Obsidian.jpg” could not be found”.
I also want to use the Imgur plugin and that needs an image to be pasted?

Most likely this is a user error but things that I have tried:
Copying the screenshot to clipboard and then insert them, that does not work and does not explain why not.
Downloaded google keyboard, did the same but then I get the error message: “obsidian does not support image pasting here”

Is there a easy thing that I am missing. I know there is a workaround, I could go over the images in the files in a computer and snippet them in but it would be easier if I could paste the images.
I am not very technically inclined so I am out of ideas.

Thanks in advance.

It should work if your screenshots are in png format, see this guide (android). If it still doesn’t work then you need to provide more information about your device.

Thanks for the quick answer.
I changed the format so now I save the screenshots as png. It does not fix the issue.

I am using an Samsung phone, S24+and the version of obsidian that is available in the Playstore. I have few plugins installed:

  • Dataview
  • Homepage
  • Imgur
  • Journals
  • Minimal theme settings
  • Recent files
  • Sheets Extended
  • Style setting
  • Tasks

I have tried to paste into other apps, Notes for example. It works.

I think you can use the “share” menu from the screenshot preview or photo viewer to send it to Obsidian (and optionally embed it in a note).
