Paste Doubles All Newlines

Things I have tried

Cmd-C and Cmd-V

What I’m trying to do

I am trying to copy a multi-line block of text from a Terminal (shell) window on MacOS and paste it into an Obsidian document. When I do so, I get an extra blank line between each copied line. e.g. This in Terminal

a
b
c

turns into this in Obsidian:

a

b

c

I can work around the problem by copying the text from the Terminal window, pasting it into TextEdit (where it does not have the extra newlines), re-copying it, and then pasting it into Obsidian.

Is there a way to paste the text into Obsidian without using TextEdit as a “fixer”?

Not at a Mac to see the keyboard shortcut, but on the menu bar there should be ‘paste and match style’. Does that work?

If you can’t find the menu command, use the keyboard shortcut ⇧⌘⌥V

You need to use SHIFT - CMD - V to paste without formatting.

Because I nearly always want to paste without formatting, I have remapped (on my Macs) CMD V to be paste and match style.
