Today in the morning Obsidian stopped to display anything. Upon start the content, which is still there, is displayed for fractions of a second and then the pane is white.
There must be something with my vault as this is what changed during weekend (nothing else). My next steps will be to try to delete content of yesterday, then the day before yesterday and so on.
As the vault is 1 GB of size and such operations are not for the faint of heart, my hope is, that anyone experienced this and knows how to overcome this.
I am on Linux, the version is 1.8.4 and the AppImages shows the same behaviour.
I did: Update all plugins (of course). Copy vault in question to a new one, but portion by portion. Seen, that that works.
Went back to the bad vault. And disabled plugin by plugin. Restarted every time. Tried plugins dealing with tabs somehow first. After disabling “Sliding Panes (Andy’s Mode)” the content was visible immediately (no restart needed). After restart vault still ok.
Happy again, but: This is strange, because I didn’t change anything with the OS or with Obsidian.
This plugin is not just superfluous but ancient as well. Obsidian has its own “sliding view”, to find in the top right corner of your window as “stacked tabs”.
Rule of thumb, check always a plugins age
You should avoid plugins older than a year - try them immediately to see if they work perfectly. Generally, I don’t suggest to install old plugins, they may conflict with newer versions of Obsidian.
