Markdown style links do not render correctly in footnotes

Steps to reproduce

Type the following:

[^1]: [Example](https://example.com/)
[^2]: [[https://example.com|Example]]

Expected result

The markdown style link should render as a link, just as the wiki style link is.

This bug has existed for quite some time and only occurs when the footnote content starts with a markdown link.
I have to input additional characters with a space (such as '- ') before the link to get it to render correctly.
