Use case or problem
Embeds still have too much whitespace:
Live preview:
Read mode:
Source mode:
I suspect this is due to the same issue that causes links that are too large to leave a unnecessary whiteline behind, upon rendering (and shortening) in live preview. For example:
There is an ugly white space underleath the link that would be taken by the (truncated and hidden) link itself, but since the link is hidden in live preview, the link test is hidden, but the whitespace is left behind. This is a problem for ultra-long links, or for small windows.
Proposed solution
Make rendering of embeds truncate greedily-- upon rendering in a line of text, they should take up the room they need, and aggressively hide / remove margins and whitespace that would otherwise have been occupied by previously shown meta-text (the declaration for the embed)
Current workaround (optional)
Just dealing with it.
There is a CSS snippet to make naked embeds which I am using, but it does not solve this problem, and I do not think this problem can be solved with CSS.
Although, if someone finds a way, please let me know!
