Do you have some context for this question?
Do you have a vault with a huge number of notes, or an example of a note that is enormous? Are you trying to import an existing knowledge-base? Are you planning on using Obsidian Sync? Details would help.
Otherwise, if you search the forum, there are some existing discussions:
We stress tested against 20k Markdown files (found here: https://github.com/Zettelkasten-Method/10000-markdown-files ), and it works okay on a relatively fast desktop computer. We’ve done extensive optimization on file explorer and search, but the initial loading and processing could take some time for sure.
Haven’t seen real-world cases that would require more, unless you want to for example display Wikipedia inside Obsidian.
Is there a know official/unofficial size limit of a note. I have many small/atomic notes, but now I’m outlining them into a structure, and beginning actual draft writing. Consequently, my outline ‘note’ will become large over time. Probably over a gig just in text.
Has anyone reported problems with big notes.
Secondly, should I be doing this at all? Should I be outlining and drafting in another tool besides Obsidian?
Thoughts?

Hello, interesting post. Thank you very much for your work here! Many good ideas. I think / I want the same function that the app logseq has. There you automatically have a journal with all notes in a chronological list. Each note can be a single note. Then you have both. I don’t like all my thoughts in one big and long note. But I like a journal with a scroll function and the possibility to search through everything. Loqseq also has the advantage that it lists all the notes in the journal and n…
Currently, Obsidian should be able to manage a vault with around 1 Million links among the notes.
At 10 Million links, with a modern desktop computer, you will notice some slowdowns during note creation, deletion and especially when renaming/moving notes.
100 Million links is out-of-reach (will cause obsidian to crash).
