How to sort Folder by Date Created or Modified?

Newbie here. Trying to use Obsidian to view my files and folders for Claude Cowork.
I am able to sort the FILES by Date Created or Modified, but the folders all sit at the top of the list and are not sorted by Date. How can I get the entire list to sort by Date?

I believe the custom sorting options in the Files tab are these at the moment. The following by CawlinTeffid:

If you want to sort your Obsidian files/folders in ways the default file browser doesn’t offer, here are some options:

No plugins needed:

  • Bookmarks (if you don’t need to reorder huge numbers of items)
  • Add numbers to the beginning of filenames
  • Discord using Bases

Community plugins:

  • Manual Sorting (enables drag and drop reordering in file browser)
  • Custom File Explorer Sorting (not the most user friendly but enables complex sorting)
  • Notebook Navigator (File browser replacement that lets you have file shortcuts in the folder list and drag top level folders to sort them)
  • FolderFile Splitter (desktop-only 3-pane view that supports pinning and drag-drop reordering)
  • File Tree Alternative
  • File Order (relies on numbered names but lets you renumber by drag-and-drop)
  • Make.MD (but it’s a mega-plugin that makes a lot of other changes too)
