How do I change my spellcheck to English?

What I’m trying to do

Last year, I briefly lived in Germany and changed my laptop’s language to German. However I never used Obsidian during that time. My Obsidian’s language is in English yet the spellcheck is German and I can’t figure out how to change it to English. Can anyone help?

Options > Editor > Spellcheck languages …

It says that it’s in English, sorry I forgot to mention that, no need to be rude I’m just asking for some help…

I am unsure what I’ve done to be rude to you, but I hope you find a solution.

what computer are you using, Mac, Win, Linux ? Check following:

  • change your laptops main language
  • change your keyboard layout language.

The easy way to change your spellchecker language is to open Obsidians Settings>editor>spellcheck language, then add yet another language, finally delete German pressing on the X.

I wonder if it’s related to this open Electron bug:

Jelmerro replied in the up-stream Electron bug:

So I guess your language is “en-gb” with a dash. So that might explain the issue. (I didn’t read the entire thread.)

Lastly, I recommend checking out the FAQ that Discourse published. It’s easy to imagine tone, so it’s always good to try to reply to content, not tone: FAQ - Discourse Meta

Win.

  • English
  • My main keyboard layout is English (South Africa) however I use US-DVORAK to type
German isn’t listed as the spellcheck language. I just turned spellcheck off for now, but it’s very strange

The en-gb thing sounds the most likely. I think this stuff is all a bit beyond me so I’ll probably just go on without spellcheck!
