Since version 0.6.5 Help docs should be opened in preview mode.

Environment

  • Operating system: Catalina 10.15.5
  • Obsidian version: 0.6.5
  • Using custom CSS: no

I had the same suggestion (and actually posted about it a few weeks ago here as I didn’t notice this thread back then).

Just for clarification, here is a screenshot that maybe explains better why the preview only mode would be nice. The help content is currently visible twice:
