Additional information

Same with this topic which had been closed.

BTW, logseq which also using electron also has similar issue and usually happen together.

May helpful: Cannot start VS Code from Applications menu in KDE Plasma 5.8 on Debian Stretch · Issue #47000 · microsoft/vscode · GitHub

I don’t see a solution in these links, only a common problem.

So should I report it to upstream ?
But not every electron program has this error

this is an electron problem tied to filesystem use. Discord wouldn’t be affected.

Do you have filesystem issues? is your disk full? permission problems?
Does it happen with the appimage version?

Steps to reproduce

just start fresh installed

Expected result

Actual result

Environment

  • Operating system: Madjaro latest
  • Debug info: not possible because crash before start

I have the same issue in Arch XFCE.

I also recently started seeing this on Debian.

disk have space, permission is right. Except this my system runs well so i guess fs is ok.

Appimage version had same issue and in the same, reboot will fix it temporily but happen minutes or hours later.

The most odd point is that I can launch from terminal but not from app menu. I’ll check my DE and env and maybe report to the electron team.

Thanks for your reply!

Same thing with me, I can launch from terminal, but not from launcher.

Yeah same problem with me here
pls help ASAP

I have the same problem using AppImage and Ubuntu - also tried with Deb and Flatpak. Has anyone had any success avoiding this?

I’m seeing this on latest Ubuntu w/ btrfs, installed via deb, but it’s happening for me after startup, sometimes hours later.

@WhiteNoise I have potentially more info on this: this morning it was happening ~2m after startup even after repeated restarts of obsidian. I then noticed that even though my wifi was still technically connected, I couldn’t visit any sites. Disconnecting and reconnecting to my wifi fixed both issues, which makes me wonder if the stack trace is misleading and it’s actually a bug around bad network connectivity rather than an issue reading disk. That would explain why reboots helped OP.
