Additional information

This problem is similar to cannot-create-a-vault-on-icloud. But I tried to uncheck “Sync this iPhone” and recheck it, it didn’t work.
I tried to uncheck settings —> privacy and security —> files and folders—>obsidian, but cannot recheck it (the button disappeared, and it said “Applications that have requested access to files and folders will appear here.”
I guess it may caused by obsidian forgetting to ask system for access to files and folders.

Try restarting your phone

I’ve tried to restart my phone and reset all settings, but it didn’t work.

have you tried uninstalling and then installing obsidian?

Yes. And I tried to use ipad to create a vault, but it failed too.

By chance are both iCloud and iCloud Drive enabled on both devices? You can be using iCloud in general, but iCloud Drive could be disabled. Something to check.

I don’t use iCloud Drive app. And I will try to use another device later with lower version to check whether the bug will be fixed.

There’s no iCloud Drive app.

I just wanted to make sure you have iCloud Drive enabled within the iCloud Settings:

I’ve solve the problem by using another device with ios 17 to create a vault.
I think the bug may be caused by ios 18 changing the way of document management.
