Bullet points in tables render weird Markdown

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enter an existing page or create a new one.
  2. Create a table with at least one cell.
  3. Enter the cell.
  4. Enter the following information:
* one
* two
* three

The table looks like this while editing:

Problem: this is what I see when viewing the table:

Yes. I used the sandbox vault to reproduce the issue.

Expected result

I expected to see each row with a bullet point first and no formatting.

Actual result

The first row—one—does not contain a bullet point and is italicised.

The second row—two—does not contain a bullet point

The third row—three—does contain a bullet point but it is not stylised.
