Automating .doc to Markdown Conversion from Google Drive to Obsidian Vault

Hello
I’m looking to automate the process of converting .doc files from Google Drive to Markdown and then transferring them into a folder within my Obsidian vault. I have a substantial number of .doc files that I’d like to integrate into my Obsidian system for better note management.

Here’s my plan of action:

  1. Download the .doc files from Google Drive.
  2. Convert these .doc files to Markdown.
  3. Copy the Markdown files into a specific folder within my Obsidian vault.

I’m curious if any other forum members have embarked on a similar project and could provide guidance on the best way to achieve this. What tools, libraries, or scripts do you recommend for automating this process? Do you have any tips or tricks to share?

I appreciate your assistance in advance.

Best regards,

Perhaps …

I. Bulk convert .doc files to html

II. Use the official Obsidian Importer plugin for html files

Works pretty good. I wish it handled footnotes a little better, but overall, that got the job done quickly.
