Use case or problem
I have created links to an unmade note under a couple of different synonyms. I have now created a note under one of the names, but when I add the other names as aliases I was hoping it would automatically link those notes too. But it hasn’t.
This is quite annoying as the main reason I’m using obsidian is to automatically highlight these connections for me. I haven’t had the time to thoroughly search the forums, but I have looked to see that I can’t easily find anyone describing a similar experience or feature request (which does somewhat surprise me, as I would have thought this would be a rather commonly desired feature - so I do apologize if I’ve missed something!).
Proposed solution
I’m not sure how aliases work, program wise, but essentially to find the links of aliases in exactly the same way the title of the note does. I get that, given the syntax of linking with aliases, this is probably a lot more complex than it sounds.
Maybe the incorporation of the option to manually search the vault for links to an unmade note under the same name as the alias, and then an option to rewrite all instances into a standard alias link (i.e. with the note name as the link, and the respective alias as the display text)?
Current workaround (optional)
I’m still new to obsidian, but I guess manually searching the vault or doing a find & replace (I have yet to figure out how to do this in obsidian, but I’m assuming this is possible). I don’t know how obsidian handles links, but since I am only talking about references I have put in double brackets already, I imagine there will be a much faster way that will scale much better as my vault gets bigger.
This proposed solution is very similar to the Obsidian Note Linker plugin, but I would wish for a simpler solution that runs into less problems of lag…
