While the potential of ‘Obsidianizing’ one’s PDF workflow is alluring, the pdf viewer has a couple zoom-related quirks that have created a surprising amount of friction as I try to make Obsidian my PDF daily driver. I thought I might reach out here to see if I am doing something wrong or otherwise if anyone has tips/workarounds.

In contrast to other pdf viewers, no reflow occurs upon zooming, so text quickly becomes pixellated

‘Zoom drift’ occurs, where the zoom anchor seems to be unstable such that it is nearly impossible to zoom in e.g. on a specific word — you’ll inevitably land somewhere else. This can be mitigated with successive baby pinches instead of a single large one.
