Is there any possibility that the workspaces.json file is updated on multiple devices? I haven’t figured out which is its normal functioning: can I open a saved workspace in another pc or Mac or it will only be accessible in the one in which it was saved?
I think you can open them on other devices, but you might need to restart the app to access any workspaces or changes that have been synced from another device.

so, it might probably be a bug, as it is not updating at all when I change devices. it just saves different lists of workspaces on each device…
It’s possible I’m wrong and they don’t sync at all.

Yes, that can also be a possibility. I use Obsidian Sync
I turned on the core Workspaces plugin in an Obsidian Synced vault with everything toggled on in Sync settings (you probably only need the Core plugin settings enabled for this):
saved a workspace layout, and it was uploaded to the remote vault:
I haven’t tested on the other end yet, but assume it will be downloaded and usable on another desktop device.
Thank You, ariehen :)) That is the same config as mine. I’m realizing now that sometimes the workspaces file does update on another machine, and sometimes doesn’t. Then, I have to restart Obsidian for the Updates workspace layouts appear – but sometimes even restarting doesn’t work either ://
