Windows Portable Version of Obsidian

I saw that issue mentioned in another thread, but I think it was MacOS too. So it might not be unique to this version. The settings window is a modal window and hitting escape, or clicking outside the bounds should also close it.

I’m brand new to Obsidian, but a long time user and fan of PortableApps. I installed the PortableApps version linked near the top of this discussion. I saw your instructions for updating to newer versions.
I found the update in the Settings and checked for updates. I executed an update and did see some UI changes. The now easier to find Check for Updates says Version 1.12.7, which is the latest, but says that I have do download the newer installer for 1.12.7 manually and reinstall Obsidian.

Won’t doing that end up with my having an actually installed version and not a PA version?

I’d appreciate any guidance.

I just read through the discussion on PortableApps. I downloaded and installed the 1.10.6 paf.exe version, overwriting whatever I actually had, which had started out as the Legacy Win 7 version. I was then able to hit update and now have, I think, the 1.12.7 version, which matches the latest standard installed Windows version. It shows the installer version is 1.10.6. Hopefully that’s OK.
