Why is Obsidian Still Spell-Checking Links?

Why are links still spell-checked in August of 2025?

This is a very simple, yet annoying problem. Why hasn’t Obsidian devs done anything about this? Internal Links should not be spell-checked. In fact, no links should be spell-checked. I don’t want to turn off spell-checker entirely, I just want links left alone.

Things I have tried

I’ve found and read through previous articles/blogs/etc regarding this. It has been brought up before, a few times, with no resolution it seems. I’m assuming everyone is finding a Community plug-in that resolves this? I’ve also seen notes that suggest it was resolved by the devs in one version or another, but apparently the issue keeps recurring. I’d love to hear from Obsidian on this.

If there’s no fix, why? And what are others doing about this? Do you recommend a Plug-in that fixes the issue? Is Obsidian ignoring the issue?

I’ve already discovered a Community Plug-in called “Spellcheck Toggler” by Julian Szachowicz which seems to work well. I still think this needs to be the default behavior of Obsidian, or at least the option should be available. Thanks, Julian!
