Whisper 429 Error?

What I’m trying to do

Hey, Im trying to use Whisper to record lecture notes. The main things that I would do would be to record 30 seconds for sake of testing, but I keep getting an error code of 429. From what Im understanding, the free OpenAI plan just maynot be enough?

Things I have tried

  • I’ve got the API key in the settings
  • do I need a new URL for the API url?

Hi @lvia2022, welcome to the Obsidian community! Fellow user here.

An HTTP 429 error means “Too Many Requests”. This means you’ve made more requests than the server allows.

Most likely you’ve run into the limits of what the OpenAI free tier allows, in either request-per-minute or request-per-day.

I think you’ll either need to wait a while and try again later, or upgrade to one of their paid plans.
