Which AI integrations do you use for your Vault and which would be best for my workflow?

Hello everyone!

I’ve been using Obsidian for 1.5 years now and would like to integrate AI into my Vault to become more efficient, as well as to crystallise more information from my Vault, but also for new links under the notes.
I am also a student and think that AI will help me to prepare very well for exams. I always create a note for each lesson and then have my notes or work on assignments in there.
Before an exam, I write down the things and information I’m learning in a note (which I call a ‘flashcard’ note) and then transfer it to ANki with the ‘Obsidian_to_Anki’ plugin.

So I’m hoping in particular that I can use it to optimise the flashcard note, e.g. that I can get even more in-depth information on the topics, but also that the completeness of the content of this file can be optimised with the AI.

That’s why I was wondering which plugin I should use for this.
I have now found three:

  • Smart Connections
  • Smart Second Brain
  • Systemsculpt
  • Copilot

Hence my questions:

  • Does anyone have experience with these or other plugins and can recommend one for my requirements?
  • Is it also possible to integrate PDF files, as I have a lot of worksheets in the Vault and it would of course be very good if the AI could also access them?
  • Has anyone perhaps already set up a workflow in general that could be of interest to me?
  • Which AI model would you recommend for my tasks (e.g. Local, OpenAI, Gemini, …)?

Thank you!

I use smart connections literally all the time. Obsidian would be materially worse for me without it.
The only feature I really use though is the “suggest smart connections”, its great for effortlessly creating a vault that is densely linked.

I use Copilot extensively. I like it because I can control the system prompts, and I care less about managing, searching and linking my notes (I do that very well already), than about generating new content, brainstorm and elaborate on ideas alongside LLMs. All the dialogs with the multiple LLMs (local or whatnot) are saved as notes, which I can further process later on. You can very easily switch from one model to another, and change temperature, token output and a number of parameters. I’ve played with the other ones mentioned but they don’t map to my use cases like Copilot does. The only thing I don’t like is the name. There are way too many “copilot” apps out there…

Maybe you should consult with AI Integration experts https://tech-stack.com/services/ai-integration

Thank you, that is a good idea!
