Where are orphan notes housed on my computer?

I am moving away from using folders to an index. When I check to see if my data is backed up by going into Windows Explorer, I see the folders I had created, but I don’t see the notes not housed in folders. Where would I find those? (This is my first time using markdown.)

For my needs, an index is quicker than finding notes in folders.

Things I have tried

I’ve looked in My Computer>obsidian>folders. I see the folders. I don’t see any notes not in folders.

Easiest way of finding a note is to right click on it in the navigation pane as select Show in System Explorer
