When a new tab is opened, creating a new note should occur within that same tab

Use case or problem

When I want to create a new note in Obsidian, I often find myself automatically opening a new tab by pressing “cmd + T” without consciously thinking about it, even though I know that I could simply press “cmd + N” to create a new note in the current tab.

I believe it would be more intuitive for the new note creation to occur in the same tab that was just opened. This approach would make more sense to the majority of users.

Further more, creating new canvas in new tab, other wise, works at the exact same tab just opened. (new tab → cmd palate → create new canvas)
This breaks the consistency of usability, I believe.

Proposed solution

Match the usability of creating different type of new contents. It would be convenient to create new notes in a new tab.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

that’s possible already. look at the available commands.

You mean it’s possible that creating new note without opening another tab? when new tab is activated?

yes, it’s possible. look at the available commands.

Oh I see. I found it. Create new note in current tab. right?

But it works both case whether new tab is opened or not. I was pointing out about that. :smiling_face_with_tear:
