What markdown standard is Obsidian using?

I was wondering, what type of Markdown standard is Obsidian using. Is it CommonMark? GFM? A new standard developed in-house?

Reason I’m asking is that some CommonMark limitations are not reproduced on Obsidian, and I’m wondering why, or how.

Also youtube/tweet embed syntax is Obsidian specific meaning that is not preserved between file conversions. This might change in the future because it is useful to watch videos inside pdf or docx files.
