I’ve tried a few AI plugins lately, and honestly, the standard “co-pilot” experience feels completely out of place in my vault.
Having a chatbot sit in a side panel to generate text feels bolted-on. Obsidian is about my own thinking and connecting ideas, so a generative ghostwriter just interrupts my flow rather than enhancing it. Most of the AI features I see right now just don’t feel right for PKM.
It got me wondering: what does an actually “organic” AI integration look like for Obsidian?
Instead of generating text, I feel like AI should work quietly in the background. Things like true semantic search (finding ideas instead of exact keywords), or quietly suggesting a link to a note I wrote two years ago because the concepts match.
Are any of you using AI in a way that actually feels natural to your workflow? What kind of AI features would actually make sense for how we use Obsidian?
