When saving a webpage with the fresh and amazing Web viewer I have to add the source URL to it manually.
I want to keep such sources for future reference and this will be a recurring chore.
Proposed solution
Auto-prepend the saved web pages with their links. Add an option(s) to control the behavior to settings.
Alternatively (even better for me), add such a link as a “Source URL” property.
On the minimum, auto-prepending would be good. The premium option would be to have both ways to pick from (or disable) and in the case of the second one an ability to control the name of the property in settings (“Source URL” by default).
Current workaround (optional)
Chore: manually copy-pasting the link, possibly adding a property (as a template).
Yes, this is really essential. I love being able to follow a link and then download a web page all within Obsidian, but so many times I forget to copy the source URL and then have to repeat the process just to copy-paste it.
In my testing, the web clipping includes this detailed header when you clip from the browser, but if you clip from within Obsidian, it does not use this template. If it is using the Default template that’s not a good implementation decision. It should either use the same template as the clipper does from the web browser (as appears above) or it should allow in the preferences to specify the page template. Not having the source URL in the clipping done within Obsidian is an issue the way I see it.
