Use case or problem

Shortcuts kept among Files are opened in the default browser instead of Obsidian Web Viewer.

Proposed solution

Either:

  • Allow obsidian to be used as the default browser for shortcuts opened through its file list; or
  • Create a new shortcut filetype intended specifically for Obsidian (like Canvas has).

Current workaround (optional)

My workarounds are to:

  • Have a note with a hyperlink in it; or
  • Open a link in my regular browser and copy the url into an Obsidian Web Viewer tab.

I am not sure I understand this. You mean .url files?

Yes. Shortcuts to web addresses have the extension .url, which in Windows explorer don’t show the file extension (even when ‘show file extension’ is selected).
