Hey everyone!
I just heard about the new Obsidian Web Clipper, and I’m thinking of using it to save fitness exercises from sites like exrx.net to build my own knowledge base.
I want to be clear: I don’t endorse just scraping the entire site at once. Instead, I’d like to add a new exercise to my collection whenever I try something new. This would also double as a checklist to track my progress and explore new exercises over time. The problem is, I have no Experience with Web Clipper and setting it up feels super overwhelming.
Does anyone already have a template for clipping content from exrx.net? Or could someone guide me?
Where I am stuck
I tried using the Web Clipper, but I already got stuck with organizing the content. For example:
Barbell Curl
When I check the available page variables in the Web Clipper, there’s one variable with way too much content:
{{highlights}} =
\[{"text":"","timestamp":"2025-01-02T17:14:31.586Z"},{"text":"# Barbell Curl","timestamp":"2025-01-02T17:14:31.586Z"},{"text":"\[ExRx.net\](http://exrx.net/) > \[Directory\](https://exrx.net/Lists/Directory) > \[Biceps\](https://exrx.net/Lists/ExList/ArmWt#Biceps) > Exercise","timestamp":"2025-01-02T17:14:31.586Z"},{"text":"\\n\\n \\n\\n## Classification\\n\\n| \*\*Utility:\*\* | \[Basic\]
...
It’s overwhelming, and I’m not sure how to handle this so it turns into a clean, organized Obsidian markdown file.
On top of that, I have no idea how to handle sections like the table of Classification or the list of muscle groups. I want everything to look neat and organized in an Obsidian markdown file, but I’m completely stuck.
