Web Clipper: Append new highlights to existing notes (incremental clipping)

Use case or problem

I find it difficult to maintain focus when researching long-form articles. Currently, the Web Clipper is designed to capture a page once. However, my natural workflow is incremental: I want to clip a single highlight, add a few thoughts in Obsidian, and then return to the same webpage to find the next insight.
The current “all-at-once” approach forces me to either wait until I’m finished reading (risking lost thoughts) or manually copy-paste notes for each highlights after.

Proposed solution

I propose an “Append to Note” or “Incremental Sync” feature for the Web Clipper.
When the Clipper is activated on a URL that has already been clipped to an existing note, it should automatically recognize to add new highlights to that note rather than overwriting it or creating a duplicate.
The extension should detect the existing note in the vault and append new selections to the bottom, preserving any personal notes or metadata already present in the file.

Current workaround (optional)

Create a blank note in Obsidian
Take notes in Obsidian and highlight on the browser as a I go
Import clipping and then copy-paste notes from the blank note into the clipping note
