Warning when installing on W11

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download from obsidian.md/download
  2. Run .exe
  3. Profit?

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? No as it doesn’t apply.

Expected result

It should just start the installer with no error where you have to press “run anyway”.

Actual result

You get a blue pop-up that makes you press “run anyway” or “don’t run”.

PSA regarding the 1.7.4 release:

  • On Windows, we’ve obtained a new signing certificate, which takes time to build trust with Microsoft. If you encounter a SmartScreen warning, you may have to choose “More info”, then “Run anyway” until enough people click that for Microsoft to trust our new signing certificate.
